Anno 1800 is a beautiful, fun, and addicting game. Especially if you like city building and supply chains. There’s great detail and it’s a great age of discovery, industry, and sailing!

But some of the quests have you find people or animals walking through the streets of your town. With a very populated and busy city, how are you supposed to find 4 or 5 people walking around??
Some articles mention pausing the game, zooming in and searching through streets. There must have been a game update because I can’t move around when the game is paused. But here are the tips I’ve found:
- Remember: when you use the “jump to” link within the quest, it will only take you to the general area or the city’s trade center, not the actual items. The items could be on the other side of your island. I’ve found items mainly in medium-populated areas.
- Slow the game speed down. This will give you more time to look before the timer expires.
- Stay zoomed in so you can see the people walking around. The quest items will only appear at a certain zoom level.
- Change the daylight option to dawn or dusk if that helps, to remove shadows.
- As you traverse the streets, you’ll be looking for something traveling within the center of the street. Hover your mouse around through the street and intersections until the cursor changes to a hand, then you’ll be able to click the item to “pick up”.
You may want to search the internet for the image of what you’re looking for. When it came to the Empress Spies, which are listed as having long black hooded robes, I knew those would be hard to spot in my busy city. Here’s what they look like:
